Helping insurance adjusters and other private companies’ employees deal with worker’s compensation claims is the primary focus and rapidly expanding job of Eagle’s Managed Care Division.
Under the direction of Angie Djordevich, the division uses registered nurses to assist clients with the handling of long-term worker’s comp claims.
“Our job is to mitigate companies’ exposure,” Djordevich explained. “Almost 90 percent of our work right now comes from adjusters who have on-the-job injuries that are serious enough to need medical care.”
Nurses will typically call an adjuster, find out the long- or short-term needs and act as an advocate for the adjuster. This can include being in the examining room for evaluation of the injury, scheduling of appointments and follow-up reporting on subsequent results for the adjuster and the claimant.
“The nurses’ job is to help follow through with every step of the process,” Djordevich added.
The division’s responsibilities are not limited to the adjusting industry. It serves Pepsi-Cola with disability claims and provides nurse case management services to other well-known companies such as Celadon Trucking and International Automotive Components, a subsidiary of the Lear Corporation.
